Week 3… Who am I?

Making Time for Me

We make time for the things that are important to us. How Important are you… to you?

I need some me time

Not some you and some I
Just some me time, oh
I need some she time
Not some him and some her
Just some free time, oh
I wanna run with my girls
Hit the club, hit the mall
Get my nails and hair done
Spend a day at the spa
Boy, you ain't gotta worry
There ain't nothin' goin' on
I need some me time
That's all, and that's all

These are the lyrics from Heather Headley’s 2006 hit song me time, and although in this song she was referrring to a relationship with her man, this song can be applied to any relationship in your life.

In this part of the she's letting her man know that it's nothing against you and really has nothing to do with you, I just need alone time. As a mom and wife, I feel this way sometimes. I don't know about you but I need a few moments to myself everyday, which I know seem unattainable to a lot of parents but I promiseyou it's not.

I believe that where there a will, there's a way. For me, I decided a while ago that I would make time for me no matter what, and I meant it! When you're a mom and a teacher, people think that you want to spend every off from work with your little one and that'snot always the case. For me, when we're on winter and spring break, my daugther goes to daycare and I spend a few days alone having me time. Intially I would feel guilty doing this, but I have to be the best me I can be. When I feel like I've negelected myself, I'm unhappy and everyone around me can feel it so I make me time a priority. Here are some things I do that you can do too once you have me time.

No matter the hour… take a bath

or shower

For me, a nice candle lit bath with spa music playing softly is the most relaxing thing in the world. Even when it's 3am! It releases all stress and help me feel rejuvenated. Even if you have to wait until the rest of the house has dozed off, find time to relax with a bath as often as possible.

Just shop til you drop

If you're anything like me... you're cheap. Well, when it comes to myself I am. I love buying things for everyone around me bit I always feel such guilt when it comes to me. Something I've started to do is online shopping. Ive found quite a few cute things that leave me feeling sastified and not guilty. I find it easiest to add a few things to my cart each week and check out once a month with whatever items are still available. It's usually about 100-200 dollars worth of stuff and in about a week I have a new wardrobe.  Here you can see some of my favorite outfits 😍.

Practice some Self-Care

We spend our days caring for everyone but ourselves. Focus on you sometimes with self-care.  Self-care is anything you do to take care of yourself so you can stay physically, mentally, and emotionally well. For me, that's getting a pedicure and my lashes done. What does self-care look like for you?

Spend time with a friend of family member

Catching up with a love one, whether a friend or family member, is good for the soul. Take a day off from work one and get lunch with someone you miss. It's fun to spend time with loved ones as a family, but someone you need a 1 on 1.

Workout

When you look better you feel better and for me (only speaking for myself) being fat ain't it. I feel horrible when I'm not happy with my body and it make me never want to leave the house. Especially not after this recent miscarriage and still looking pregnant, I've joined a gym and I'm determined to get fit again.

Work on your hobby

Hobbies are things we love and sometimes we go years without working on them. Mine are sewing, writing, and reading. Reading is love I've recently gotten back into and even if it's only for 20 minutes a days, I find time to read. Make an effort to carve out 10-20 minutes a day to work on your hobby and reignite that love you have for it.
